Schools back in session in just two short weeks and the crunch is on for picking up the required list of school supplies. In addition, their immunizations must be up to date before the kids start school. It’s so crazy hectic with four kids shopping for school supplies at Walgreens is just so easy and convenient. On the other hand getting into the doctor can be a hassle that’s why we chose to do immunizations at Walgreens. Did you know that Walgreens makes it easy to get immunizations like whooping cough and meningitis shots? No appointment needed and they even take most insurances.
Walgreens is currently running a fabulous “Get a Shot, Give a Shot!” opportunity. For everyone that gets a shot a Walgreens, Walgreens Health Care Clinic will help provide a life saving vaccine to child in a developing country through the United Nation Foundation’s Shot@Life. We love that we can be a part of this wide spread opportunity and helping important immunizations reach children that could not of possibly received them without our help. My kids are also excited to be a part of something so amazing helping give a shot to a child that needs it.
When it comes time to take the kids for vaccines I think the best policy is to not let the anxiety build days before by informing them that they will be going for shots. My daughter and my oldest son would get terrible anxiety when I told them about shots. One time my son even ran out of the office and we had to chase him and have 4 nurse’s hold him down while the doctor administered the shot. It was awful. Reducing the anxiety was my goal and I found that if I let the nurse tell him when she walked in with the shot prepared and he received it in the next 5 minutes it was certainly easier on him and that’s the way I’ve been doing it ever since with all my children. Having something like games on a phone to distract them have been a really big help, too.
Getting immunizations to children who really need them is just as easy as this. You want to send your children back to school healthy and keep them that way and so do I. Visit Walgreens for your Back-To-School needs and get the required physicals and vaccines done at the same time.
